Alpaca fiber from our herd is used in most of our work. Alpaca fiber is ecologically friendly, sustainable and renewable, warm, hard-wearing, flame and water resistant and hypoallergenic for most people.
Cool looking in dark silver gray, this 100% alpaca hand felted hat features a nearly 9 inch tall peak and 3-3/4 inch brim. Finished with a braided leather hat band with bead, and hand sewn edge ribbon and inside sweat band. Large.

Very nice medium fawn huacaya alpaca fleece from one of our girls, Brenda Lee. This is a medium fawn 2.6 pound, fully skirted fleece. Under 25 micron, +/- 3 inch staple length. Brenda Lee is an older girl but has consistently scored well in spin off competitions as an older animal. Use for a sport weight yarn, gives good stitch definition. Blends well with other fibers.

In this three hour session, students will learn the basics of making yarn from fiber using a drop spindle. Drop spindles have been used since ancient times to make sturdy fiber and they are a great tool to learn hand spinning without incurring the cost of a spinning wheel. Master the fundamental skills of twist and draft to create your first yarns and become a proficient hand spinner. If time permits, a brief turn with a spinning wheel may be possible. Wheel spinning is taught in another class.
Equipment and Supplies included, classes are one-on-one with times determined by mutual agreement.
Get into spinning using the age-old technique of drop spindling. These hand made and low cost spindles are designed for the novice and advanced spindler alike. Average weight is just under 2 ounces. Design will vary.
A learn-to-make-yarn kit containing a student’s drop spindle (~ 1.7 oz) and about 2 oz of dyed roving plus instruction sheet. Makes a great gift. Roving colors will vary.

With care, dryer balls can last a long time. Can be rejuvenated by occasionally washing in hot water. No dyes or perfumes. In natural cream or brown colors.
A made-to-order felted hat with creased top. Made in small (about 21 3/4 inches around) and medium (about 22 inches around)—fits most. Be creative—choose colors and invent hat trims!
